FAQ
Have Questions?
Here are answers to common electrical questions or concerns that you may have. If you didn’t find your answer, please send a message, and I’ll get back to you shortly.
Yes. In the ACT, all electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician. It is illegal for homeowners to perform their own electrical work, even minor tasks like replacing powerpoints or light switches. Unlicensed electrical work is a safety risk and can void your home insurance. VoltPath Electrical is fully licensed, insured, and compliant with all ACT electrical regulations — so you can have complete peace of mind that the work is done properly and you’re covered every step of the way.
Yes, always. We believe nobody should be hit with a bill they weren’t expecting. Before we start any work, we provide a clear, itemised quote so you know exactly what you’re paying for. For standard jobs we can often give you a price over the phone. For larger or more complex work we’ll assess the site first and get you a detailed quote before anything is touched.
Absolutely. We treat every home with respect and clean up fully before we leave. That means all offcuts, packaging, and debris are removed, and the work area is left the way we found it — or better. You shouldn’t have to lift a finger once we’re done.
We stand behind everything we do. If you’re not satisfied with the quality of our work, contact us and we’ll come back to make it right at no additional cost. Our goal is for every customer to feel confident recommending us to a friend — and we won’t consider a job finished until you’re happy with the result.
For most homes, an electrical inspection every 5 to 10 years is recommended. However, if you’ve recently purchased a property, are planning a renovation, have noticed flickering lights, tripping breakers, or burning smells, you should have an inspection sooner. Rental properties in the ACT also have specific inspection requirements for landlords.

A safety switch (RCD) monitors the flow of electricity and cuts power within milliseconds if a fault is detected — potentially saving your life. In the ACT, safety switches are required on all new installations. If your home doesn’t have one, we strongly recommend having one installed. It’s one of the most important and cost-effective safety upgrades you can make.
